Common Problems With Stackable Washer And Dryer Units

Anyone that has limited floor space can benefit by having a stackable washer and dryer installed. Stackable Washer/Dryer units are no different than any other type of appliance, they are susceptible to mechanical breakdowns. Some of the typical problems that our customers run across are:

Either machine (or both machines) will not turn on.
Make sure that your electricity is on and that the electrical circuit for these machines is working. Check the circuit breaker box or fuse panel to makes sure that the circuit did not trip. Also check to makes sure that the units are plugged in. Sometimes, the plug accidentally gets worked loose from the wall outlet.

The dryer and/or the washer do not spin.
There are many reasons why the washing machine may not spin. For example, the lid switch might be faulty. Or, the motor may be defective, sometimes the coupler breaks. Another issue is relative to the belt. Oftentimes, belts wear down and break, especially on older units. Finally, just like cars, washing machines have transmissions and they break down.

Whenever you notice an issue with your dryer not spinning, the first thing to consider is that the dryer load is too big. When the dryer has too many heavy and wet items, it may not spin due to a overload sensor. Be careful with your dryer as constant overloading may create a situation of excessive wear and tear on the belts and drum.

There is no heat in the dryer unit.
Aside from the obvious lack of power, there are a few other factors that can contribute to no heat being generated in your dryer. For instance, a burnt out thermal fuse. This situation will either prevent the dryer form running at all or will prevent the dryer from generating heat. Detecting the actual problem who’ll be left to the professionals.

Water will not drain out of the washer tub.
One of the main reasons that prevent water from draining from the washing machine tub is a faulty drain pump. Another common problem is a broken water pump belt. These belts will weaken over time and when they break, the water cannot be pumped out of the washing machine tub. It could also be a faulty lid switch. In this case, the tub won’t spin or drain. There are many other factors that can prevent the proper drainage of water from the tub.  Be sure to call a qualified washer repair company to get your washing machine fixed.

There is evidence of water leaking from the bottom of the unit.
This can be caused by several different factors. One of the most common is the breaking down of seals and gaskets on the unit. Another contributor is “oversudsing”. This happens when there is too much laundry detergent placed in the machine.
